Plagiarism Policy
The Journal of Ahmedabad Dental College & Hospital (JADCH) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. Plagiarism in any form is considered a serious breach of publication ethics and is strictly prohibited.
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to, the use of another person’s ideas, data, text, images, or results without proper acknowledgement. This also includes self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, redundant publication, and salami slicing (fragmentation of research findings across multiple publications without appropriate disclosure).
Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts submitted to JADCH undergo plagiarism screening using reliable plagiarism detection software at the time of submission and, if required, at any stage of the review or publication process. Manuscripts showing unacceptable levels of similarity will be rejected without further review.
Acceptable Similarity
Minor similarity due to the use of standard terminology, methodology descriptions, or properly cited references may be acceptable. However, the journal does not permit plagiarism of ideas, data, or interpretation, regardless of the percentage of similarity.
Actions in Case of Plagiarism
If plagiarism is detected before publication, the manuscript will be rejected, and the authors will be notified. In cases of serious or repeated plagiarism, the journal may impose additional sanctions, including temporary or permanent restriction on future submissions.
If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal will take appropriate action in accordance with COPE guidelines, which may include issuing a correction, retraction, or expression of concern. The authors affiliated institutions may also be informed if necessary.
Author Responsibility
Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work prior to submission. Proper citation and acknowledgement of all sources is mandatory. Any previously published material must be clearly identified and cited.
Appeals
Authors may submit a written explanation or appeal if they believe a plagiarism finding is incorrect. Such appeals will be reviewed by the editorial team, and the decision of the journal will be final.
