Editor Duties

Editors of the Journal of Ahmedabad Dental College & Hospital (JADCH) are entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining the academic quality, ethical integrity, and editorial independence of the journal. Editors are expected to act objectively, transparently, and professionally throughout the editorial and peer review process, ensuring that all published content meets high scientific and ethical standards.

Editorial Decision-Making

Editors are responsible for evaluating submitted manuscripts solely on the basis of their scientific merit, originality, relevance to the journal’s scope, and ethical compliance. Editorial decisions must be free from bias and must not be influenced by the authors’ nationality, institutional affiliation, gender, religion, or political beliefs. Editors retain full authority over acceptance, revision, or rejection of manuscripts.

Fair and Confidential Review Process

Editors must ensure a fair, rigorous, and timely double-blind peer review process. They are responsible for selecting qualified and independent reviewers and safeguarding the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts. Information about submissions must not be disclosed to anyone other than those directly involved in the editorial process.

Ethical Oversight

Editors must actively monitor and address ethical issues, including plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, duplicate publication, authorship disputes, and conflicts of interest. Any suspected misconduct must be investigated in accordance with COPE guidelines. When necessary, editors should issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

Conflict of Interest

Editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could affect their editorial judgment. Editors should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have a personal, professional, or financial interest and assign such manuscripts to an independent editor.

Transparency and Accountability

Editors are responsible for maintaining transparency in editorial policies, peer review procedures, and publication decisions. They should ensure that journal policies are clearly communicated to authors, reviewers, and readers and are applied consistently.

Quality Assurance

Editors must strive to continuously improve the quality of the journal by promoting ethical research, encouraging high-quality submissions, and ensuring adherence to international publication standards. They should work to enhance the journal’s academic visibility and credibility at national and international levels.

Post-Publication Responsibilities

Editors are responsible for responding appropriately to concerns raised after publication, including requests for corrections or retractions. They must take prompt action to rectify errors and uphold the accuracy of the published record.
