Article Withdrawing Policy
The Journal of Ahmedabad Dental College & Hospital (JADCH) is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. Article withdrawal is permitted only under specific circumstances and in accordance with established ethical publishing practices.
Pre-Publication Withdrawal
Authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript before acceptance by submitting a written request to the editorial office stating valid reasons for withdrawal. Once a manuscript has entered the peer review process, withdrawal requests will be considered only under exceptional circumstances.
Withdrawal requests made after acceptance but before publication are discouraged and will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. In such cases, authors must provide a detailed justification for withdrawal. The journal reserves the right to refuse withdrawal requests at this stage.
Post-Publication Withdrawal
Withdrawal of an article after publication is generally not permitted. In cases where serious ethical violations, errors, or misconduct are identified after publication, the journal follows COPE guidelines and may take appropriate actions such as issuing a correction, retraction, or expression of concern rather than withdrawal.
Reasons for Withdrawal
Valid reasons for article withdrawal may include:
- Discovery of significant errors prior to publication
- Ethical concerns identified during review
- Duplicate or accidental submission
- Author disputes affecting authorship integrity
Withdrawal requests based on change of mind, delays in review, or submission to another journal after acceptance are not considered valid.
Withdrawal Procedure
All withdrawal requests must be submitted in writing by the corresponding author, with consent from all co-authors. The request should clearly state the reason for withdrawal. The editorial team will review the request and communicate the final decision to the authors.
Consequences of Unethical Withdrawal
Unethical withdrawal practices, including withdrawal after acceptance without valid justification or submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously, may result in sanctions. These may include rejection of future submissions, notification to the authors’ institutions, or other actions deemed appropriate by the journal.
